The City Council of Sabadell has begun the renewal of pavements and pedestrian crossings in the vicinity of the Parc de les Aigües, with an investment of nearly 3 million euros as part of the 'Money in the Streets' programme.
The City Council of Sabadell has launched a new phase of public space improvement works in the Parque de las Aguas neighbourhood. The actions, which have already begun, focus on renewing pavements and pedestrian crossings to make the streets more accessible and safe.
The works are part of the municipal programme 'Money in the Streets', which allocates nearly 3 million euros to the improvement of public spaces in various neighbourhoods of the city. In this phase, the council plans to intervene in around twenty pavements distributed throughout Sabadell.
The works have already allowed for the renewal of the pedestrian crossings located at the corner of Arcàdia and Sarajevo streets. Currently, workers are on Plinio el Viejo street, where new pedestrian crossings are being adapted and several sections of the north pavement are being renewed.
The main objective is to eliminate architectural barriers and facilitate walking, especially for the elderly, people with reduced mobility, and families with pushchairs. The initiative aims to improve road safety and the comfort of pedestrians in a high-traffic area.
In addition to the actions on the pavements, the City Council plans to resurface several streets around the Parc de les Aigües during the second half of the year. The works will affect Adriana and Plinio el Viejo streets, the Moscow passage, and various sections of Sarajevo street. The aim is to improve the condition of the pavement and ensure safer circulation for both vehicles and pedestrians.
In recent months, the council has already completed improvement works in other areas of Sabadell, such as Via Massagué, Vilarrúbias street, Caldes road, Plaza de España, Brujas street, Sant Antoni street, and Travessera de l'Església. These actions are part of a continuous public space renewal plan.
With this plan, the City Council of Sabadell continues to progressively renew the city's pavements to improve accessibility, increase pedestrian safety, and make public spaces more comfortable and pleasant. The overall investment of the programme exceeds 3 million euros, distributed across different phases.
Residents of the Parque de las Aguas can already notice the first improvements in the pedestrian crossings on Arcàdia and Sarajevo streets, and the works on Plinio el Viejo street are expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The resurfacing of the streets planned for the second half of the year will complete the transformation of the area.
