On July 25, Plaça Primer de Maig in Terrassa will be the venue for a new edition of 'Siempre es 26', an event organised by the Catalan coordinator Defensem Cuba, in collaboration with the Terrassa City Council. The event commemorates the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the centenary of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz.
The day will kick off at 18:30 with children's workshops and a foam party. At 19:30 salsa workshops will be offered, and at 22:00 a concert by Orlis Pineda is scheduled, accompanied by speeches, a recital of poems by Nicolás Guillén, and other cultural activities. Throughout the day, there will be a bar service with drinks and mojitos.
The organisation has put a solidarity ticket on sale for 12 euros, which includes a 'puerco' sandwich, a cone of chips, and wine or water. Reservations can be made by calling +34 651 76 07 00.
Defensem Cuba has called on neighbours, social, union, and political organisations, as well as the entire solidarity movement, to participate in this festive and reivindicative day. The event is conceived as a space for meeting, culture, and solidarity with the Cuban people, in a context that the organisation describes as particularly difficult for the island, marked by the energy crisis and economic difficulties attributed to the US blockade.
From the solidarity movement with Cuba in Catalonia, the day is organised in defence of the Cuban Revolution and its right to establish the political, social, and economic system it desires. It also aims to expose Cuba's reasons for defending itself against the attacks, lies, and aggressions that, according to the organisation, it has suffered since the triumph of the Revolution and the defeat of dictator Fulgencio Batista.
Defensem Cuba reaffirms its commitment to truth, justice, and the defence of the right to self-determination and independence of peoples. The event on July 25 in Terrassa aims to be a show of support for the Cuban people and their Revolution.
