Several accidents and breakdowns are causing delays exceeding 20 kilometres on the AP-7 towards Barcelona. The most serious incident, involving four cars in Mont-roig del Camp, has forced the closure of one lane.
The AP-7 has become a headache this Sunday for thousands of drivers returning to the metropolitan area of Barcelona. A series of accidents and breakdowns has generated delays that, in total, exceed 30 kilometres across various sections of the motorway, according to data from the Servei Català de Trànsit.
The most problematic point is located near Mont-roig del Camp, in the province of Tarragona, where a multiple accident involving four cars has forced the closure of one lane. The Bombers de la Generalitat have dispatched four units to disconnect the batteries, clear the roadway, and assist in moving the injured, who are being treated by the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM). The exact number of affected individuals and the severity of their injuries are currently unknown. Delays in this area reach six kilometres from Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant.
Over 20 Kilometres of Queues in Vallès Oriental
But the problems do not end in Tarragona. In the Vallès Oriental, the AP-7 is experiencing significant congestion directly affecting municipalities such as Llinars del Vallès, La Roca del Vallès, Santa Maria de Palautordera, and Sant Celoni. Between Llinars and La Roca, a vehicle breakdown is causing ten kilometres of delays, while between Palautordera and Sant Celoni, another six kilometres are due to an accident that has closed one lane.
To alleviate the situation, Trànsit has opened an additional lane between Llinars and Montornès del Vallès towards Barcelona, although traffic remains very slow. Drivers planning to return home from the Costa Brava or Maresme should prepare for considerable delays.
Traffic Jams Also on the B-20 and C-32
The impact extends to other access routes to Barcelona. On the B-20, delays are reported between El Prat de Llobregat and Cornellà due to a lane closure caused by a fire, and there are also queues at the Nus del Llobregat and between Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Barcelona. Residents of Santa Coloma using this route should allow more time than usual.
On the C-32, significant congestion is occurring between Alella and Vilassar de Dalt, and between Sant Boi de Llobregat and Viladecans. Trànsit recommends exercising extreme caution and, if possible, seeking alternative routes or delaying the return until the situation improves.
In total, incidents on the AP-7 account for over 30 kilometres of delays spread across various points, with particular impact on access to the metropolitan area of Barcelona. It is expected that traffic will normalise throughout the night, but drivers should check traffic conditions before setting off.
