Coco Beach in Badalona has crowned Erika Kliokmanaite and Kadri Puri as champions of Catalonia for the eighth time, five of which are consecutive. The circuit, which passed through Vilanova i la Geltrú, has recorded 145 pair registrations.
The Catalonia Beach Volleyball Championship 2026 has concluded its edition with record figures: 145 pair registrations and 89 different combinations throughout the five events of the circuit, which started in May and culminated this weekend at Coco Beach in Badalona. Among the calendar events, Vilanova i la Geltrú hosted one of the open trials, with 32 pairs registered, establishing itself as a regular venue for Catalan beach volleyball.
In the women's category, the pair formed by Erika Kliokmanaite and Kadri Puri reaffirmed their dominance by defeating Laura García and Elia Carpena in the final. With this victory, they add their eighth title of champions of Catalonia, the fifth consecutive, a dominance that makes them the undisputed queens of the discipline in the Catalan sphere.
A circuit with five stops and skyrocketing participation
The calendar combined two open trials at the CEM Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, which gathered 65 registrations, with the events in Tarragona and Vilanova i la Geltrú, each with 32 pairs. The final event, reserved for the eight best pairs in each category, took place in Badalona. In total, 66 female pairs and 79 male pairs competed throughout the circuit, representing an increase in participation compared to previous editions.
For beach volleyball fans in the Garraf region, the event in Vilanova i la Geltrú was an opportunity to see some of the best pairs in action without leaving the province. The trial was held at Ribes Roges beach, a location that has hosted events before and once again demonstrated its suitability for competition.
Televised finals and new male champions
The finals on Sunday were broadcast live by Esport3, allowing viewers to follow the title matches in real time. In the men's category, Diego Tazzioli and Roberto Fauda defeated Manuel Nieto and Eric Estalella, thus making their debut in the Catalonia Championship's winners' list. The winning pair showed great level throughout the weekend, confidently overcoming the knockout stages.
“The balance of this edition confirms that the Catalonia Beach Volleyball Championship is a consolidated competition with the capacity to continue growing,” evaluated the president of the Catalan Volleyball Federation, Maribel Zamora. “Closing the championship with the finals broadcast by Esport3 allows us to increase its visibility and continue promoting Catalan beach volleyball.”
The next edition of the circuit will start in May 2027, and all signs point to Vilanova i la Geltrú returning as one of the venues. Beach volleyball lovers in the region can already mark their calendars for an event that, edition after edition, gains followers and competitive level.
