Banc Sabadell has announced the creation of two new areas, 'Corporate Transformation and AI' and 'Business Transformation', to accelerate its strategic plan and reinforce the use of artificial intelligence.
Banc Sabadell has reorganised its management structure with the creation of two new areas focused on artificial intelligence and digital transformation, the entity communicated on Monday. This is one of the first significant decisions made by the new CEO, Marc Armengol, who took office last May.
The new area of Corporate Transformation and AI will have a cross-cutting scope across the entire bank and will be integrated within the Strategy Directorate, led by Marc Prat. Robert Duran will head this division, and its main objective is to promote the deployment of artificial intelligence throughout the organisation. Additionally, the Operations and Technology Directorate, led by Elena Carrera, will strengthen its AI capabilities.
On the other hand, within the Spain Business area, directed by Carlos Ventura, the Business Transformation unit is being created, focused on accelerating digitalisation and improving customer experience. Jorge Rodríguez Maroto, responsible for retail banking, will lead this new division. Rodríguez Maroto thus expands his area of responsibility, which already included financing, payment methods, consumer credit, insurance, asset management, and Sabadell Consumer Finance, and now also adds Businesses and Self-Employed.
The entity frames these changes within its goal of accelerating transformation, simplifying the organisation, and reinforcing the relationship banking model, which it considers the strategic axis for future growth. Under the control of Carlos Ventura, the bank's number two, a Commercial Banking unit is also being created, led by Albert Figueras, who will coordinate the territorial directorates and remote sales and servicing to clients.
Furthermore, Sabadell has announced the creation of a new personal banking unit, which will be directed by Xavi Blanquet, with the aim of strengthening specialised service to high-value clients. This decision comes after the recent announcement of the incorporation of Adela Martín to lead private banking, replacing Ramón de la Riva.
Other changes affect the Financial Directorate, led by Sergio Palavecino, who takes on the management of the bank's costs; the People and Sustainability Directorate, headed by Sonia Quibus, which adds the function of procurement management; and the Communication Directorate, led by Virginia Zafra, which assumes Internal Communication in its entirety.
With this reorganisation, Banc Sabadell seeks to adapt to the new demands of the market and position itself as a benchmark in the application of artificial intelligence in the financial sector. The entity, based in Sabadell, thus reinforces its commitment to technological innovation as a lever for growth and efficiency improvement.
