The Montcada i Reixac Town Hall has started waterproofing work on the roof of the Miquel Poblet pavilion to eliminate water leaks. The project, with a budget of €200,000, will be completed in six months.

This August, the Montcada i Reixac Town Hall has initiated waterproofing work on the roof of the Miquel Poblet pavilion, located at Camino de la Font Freda, 3. The work aims to put an end to the leaks that appear on the court when it rains, which have often required the placement of containers to collect water, posing a risk of damage to the flooring.

The project, which has a budget of around €200,000, involves waterproofing the 2,390 square meters of roof and constructing a cold roof with a high-durability multilayer system. This solution includes a primer, a geotextile, a water-based white polyurethane membrane, and a final protective varnish layer, as well as reinforcing the most sensitive points such as edges, corners, and skylights.

Beyond resolving the leaks, the new roof will help reduce heating of the facility during the hottest months due to its ability to reflect solar radiation. The expected execution period is six months.

This intervention is part of a programme of improvements for the pavilion funded by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), which includes two other projects. One of these is the installation of a new climate control and ventilation system, with a budget of €250,000, which will replace the current, outdated system that is insufficient to meet the facility's needs.

The third project, already completed, involved the opening of new side doors to enhance safety and versatility of the space. With an investment of €55,000, five new emergency exits and a large loading and unloading door have been created, improving evacuation and facilitating access for materials for non-sporting events.

With these improvements, the council aims to transform the court into a more versatile space suitable for hosting cultural, recreational, and large-format activities. The works are part of the municipal effort to modernise sports facilities and adapt them to the needs of clubs, entities, and the citizens of Montcada i Reixac.
