The Jardins de la Pau Civic Centre and the Prat Photographic Association have launched a new edition of the La Ciutat Revelada project, focused on analogue photography and the narrative of the municipality's industrial spaces.
The community photography project La Ciutat Revelada has begun in Prat de Llobregat with the first training sessions and photographic walks. Driven by the Jardins de la Pau Civic Centre and in collaboration with the Prat Photographic Association, the initiative aims to create a community around analogue photography and the photographic laboratory at the civic centre.
This year, the project's guiding theme is "The Industrial Narrative of the Margins", a proposal that invites participants to observe the border spaces of Prat: the river and the peripheral industrial areas. Participants explore these places from an artistic and documentary perspective, exercising their gaze and sharing experiences.
In this initial phase, the group has combined training sessions with photographic outings to the margins of the municipality. Participants have learned the basics of black and white analogue photography and have been able to develop their own photographs in the Jardins de la Pau laboratory, one of the most special experiences of the process.
The photographic laboratory at the civic centre is thus being revitalised as a space for creation, learning, and gathering. The initiative aims to breathe life into this facility and make it available to the public for collective photographic practice.
After the summer, the project will continue with new photographic walks, laboratory sessions, and experimental workshops. Planned activities include an introduction to cyanotype, an alternative photographic technique, and the creation of a collective fanzine that will compile the group's work.
The journey will culminate in December with an open day for the public. At this event, photographs, creative processes, and experiences from the months of work will be shared. The day will be free and open to everyone, aiming to raise awareness of the project and analogue photography among the population.
The La Ciutat Revelada project is consolidating as a participatory photography initiative that fosters creativity and a critical perspective on the urban environment. In previous editions, it has allowed for the exploration of various themes related to the territory, such as historical memory or everyday landscapes.
