Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat will interrupt circulation between Gràcia and Sarrià for 13 days to renew the track. An alternative bus service will be provided.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) will suspend train services between the Gràcia and Sarrià stations from August 11 to August 23, both inclusive, as reported by the public operator. The interruption is due to track renewal works in this section, which began in May during non-commercial night hours and now require a total service disruption.
The works will allow the installation of a new concrete slab track on track 1, replacing the ballast track between Gràcia and Muntaner. The diagonals of the Muntaner-La Bonanova section will also be renewed using the same technique. This intervention is part of the track renewal project between Plaça Catalunya and Sarrià, the first phase of which has already been executed in the Sarrià, Les Tres Torres, La Bonanova, and Muntaner section.
To minimise inconvenience, FGC has scheduled the works for August, a month with lower passenger traffic. An alternative bus service will connect the Gràcia, Sant Gervasi, Muntaner, La Bonanova, Les Tres Torres, and Sarrià stations. The company has prepared an information system at the stations to detail the disruptions and changes in schedules.
Trains between Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya will modify their usual schedules and will run with a maximum frequency of 18 trains per hour in each direction. In contrast, trains on the S1 and S2 lines between these stations, as well as lines L7 and L12, will maintain their usual schedules.
Additionally, between August 4 and 30, the works will cause disruptions in the traffic lanes of Via Augusta: there will be partial closures, narrowing between Madrazo and Ganduixer streets, and diversions of the bike lane in some specific sections.
Before these closures, FGC will interrupt the Llobregat-Anoia line from August 1 to 7 between Sant Vicenç | Castellgalí and Manresa to renew and execute new tracks. Specifically, 400 meters of track will be renewed in the Santa Clara tunnel, at the height of the Manresa-Viladordis station, and a new concrete slab track will be installed to improve stability, drainage, and prevent water infiltration.
Furthermore, from this Monday until August 28, FGC is conducting the annual review of the Vallvidrera Funicular, with an alternative road service.
FGC users in the Barcelona area should plan their journeys in advance and check the updated schedules on the company's website or at the stations. The alternative bus service will operate with frequencies adapted to the usual demand of the summer period.
