The saga of J.R.R. Tolkien is the main highlight of this edition. Five streets —Fraternitat de Baix, Fraternitat de Dalt, Llibertat, Progrés, and Tordera— will recreate various locations from 'The Lord of the Rings'. The influence of the British writer's fantastical universe extends across several areas of the neighbourhood.
Historical memory will also have its space. Ciudad Real street will adorn its balconies with 'Ens queda la paraula', a tribute to the poets and poetesses persecuted during the Civil War and Francoism. The initiative aims to remember those who suffered censorship and persecution for their ideas.
Other streets have opted for social and activist themes. The Poble Gitano square will celebrate its tenth anniversary with 'Aniversari', a recognition of the Romanipe's gypsy association. Meanwhile, Jesús street, which has this year moved to Sant Pere Màrtir, will present 'Pot baixar Jesús a jugar?' as a reflection on gender roles in children's play.
The world of cinema and popular culture will also be present. La Perla street will delve into the pirate universe with 'La Perla Negra', while Puigmartí will dedicate 'Viet Fest' to Vietnamese popular festivals. Mozart street will recreate the moment when the Ciutadella's umbracle became a ballroom with 'L'hivernacle encantat'.
Tributes to trades and traditions will also find a place. Joan Blanques de Baix will pay homage to the fire brigade with 'Brigada Joan Blanques', amidst smoke, fire, and helmets. Perill will remember the florists of the Rambla, and Lluís Vives will invite residents to sit at the table with 'La calçotada'.
Nature and the environment inspire several decorations. Joan Blanques de Baix de Tot will bring to Gràcia 'Un mar de meduses', a reflection on the fragility of the marine ecosystem. The Nord square will raise 'El jardí improbable', a garden of imaginary flowers and plants with a maze for children. Providència, with 'Floridència', will present a greenhouse full of plants and flowers of all sizes.
Literature and letters will also have their space. The Sant Miquel square and surroundings will turn 'L'abecedari de la Festa' into a tribute to letters and words. Verdi will propose 'Metamorfosi', a walk through the evolution from caterpillar to butterfly through a blooming garden.
The most traditional Catalan customs will be represented by Berga street, with 'Anem a ca la Iaia', a journey into the sensations of visiting grandparents' homes. Travessia de Sant Antoni will draw inspiration from a typical abandoned Catalan farmhouse with 'Can Travessia'.
One of the highlights will be the iconic Vila square, which this year bets on 'Un guarnit de merda', a reclamation of the scatological sense of Catalan culture. Undoubtedly, a proposal that will not leave anyone indifferent.
Finally, the Rovira i Trias square will celebrate its 20 years of uninterrupted decoration with 'Batiscaforoviruskas'. The commission of this square is one of the oldest in the neighbourhood, and its anniversary deserved special recognition.
