The bathing area of the Forum in Barcelona activates a programme of inclusive activities and an alcohol-free kiosk with reusable cups. The service will operate until the end of the bathing season.
The Forum Bathing Area in Barcelona has launched two new initiatives that reinforce its inclusive and sustainable character: a social engagement service and a kiosk with an integrative approach. Both services are now operational and complement the improvements inaugurated last June.
The social engagement service offers a programme of activities for all audiences with a socio-educational function, inclusion, and community work, especially aimed at the most vulnerable groups. The programming incorporates a gender perspective, promotes respect for the environment, and combines land and marine activities, prioritising sports practice and knowledge of the marine environment.
During the peak season, activities will take place from 12 to 14 hours and from 15 to 19 hours. In the summer of 2025, a total of 1,118 people participated in the scheduled activities of this service, which has helped to establish the Forum Bathing Area as a safe, inclusive, and reference space for the community.
At the same time, the new kiosk is now fully operational, conceived as a support space for social engagement projects. The facility includes a public adapted toilet and a pergola, and will promote a model of responsible and sustainable consumption: alcoholic beverages will not be sold, smoking will not be allowed on the terrace, and a deposit, return, and recycling system for reusable cups for take-away drinks will be implemented.
This system will operate with a deposit of 1 euro for each reusable cup, which will be fully refunded when the user returns it. This measure helps to reduce waste generation and prevent the abandonment of cups in public spaces. The opening hours, until the end of the bathing season, are from 10 to 21 hours.
These two services add to the improvements made in the Forum Bathing Area, which opened to the public last June. Residents of Barcelona and visitors can now enjoy a more inclusive and environmentally respectful space.
