From midnight on Sunday to Monday, parking will no longer be allowed on Camí de la Pomereda. The Malgrat de Mar Town Hall will install wooden posts with ropes along the entire stretch to prevent vehicle access.
The Malgrat de Mar Town Hall has announced that from next Monday, parking will not be permitted on Camí de la Pomereda. This measure responds to a requirement from the Spanish State, which manages the public maritime-terrestrial domain through the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
The ban will come into effect at midnight from Sunday to Monday. That same morning, work will begin to place wooden posts with ropes along the entire stretch from in front of the Spontex factory to the junction with the Mas Bages road.
According to the council, the aim is to prevent motorised vehicles from accessing the public maritime-terrestrial domain. Coastal legislation prohibits parking on land that constitutes a beach, as is the case in some areas of Camí de la Pomereda.
The General Directorate of Coasts and the Sea, under the Ministry for Ecological Transition, is responsible for protecting, delimiting, and regulating the use of beaches, the sea, and coastal land. The state requirement urges the Town Hall to ensure compliance with this regulation.
Residents and visitors who usually parked on this road will need to seek alternatives starting Monday. The Town Hall has not yet specified whether new parking spaces will be made available in the vicinity.
This action is part of the protection of the coastline of Malgrat de Mar, a coastal municipality in the Maresme that has an urban beach stretch and a more natural one around the Camí de la Pomereda.
