On July 20, the sixth edition of the Summer Camp at La CIBA begins, featuring free activities for children aged 6 to 12 focused on equality, care, and the environment.

Next Monday, July 20, the municipal space La CIBA in Santa Coloma de Gramenet will kick off the sixth edition of the ‘Summer Camp’, an educational leisure proposal that will run for the last two weeks of the month. The initiative, which is free of charge, is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 and combines games, workshops, and storytelling with a clear coeducational and sustainability focus.

This year's theme is the advocacy of the value of care, understood as the pillar that sustains life and the respectful relationship between people and nature. Activities will take place in two time slots: from 10 to 13:30 in the morning and from 18 to 20 in the evening. To participate, prior registration is required through the Grameticket platform (www.grameticket.com) or via the municipal app Santa Coloma Connecta.

Storytelling, nature, and coeducational games

The programme includes the ‘Atrapacuentos’, led by the company Menta i Xocolata, which will offer six thematic sessions combining storytelling and practical workshops. The stories revolve around nature, mutual aid, and the prominence of great heroines, aiming to awaken the imagination and critical awareness of the little ones.

At the same time, the organisations Bosc de Llum and Amalur will guide participants in discovering local biodiversity. Swallows, owls, insects, and plants will be the stars of workshops aimed at fostering respect for the local environment. Additionally, coeducational games designed for the occasion will promote cooperation and good treatment, dismantling gender stereotypes.

The Pompeu Lab, for its part, will invite children to build the city of the future through creative dynamics, reflecting on how to care for people, nature, and shared spaces. A playful way to think about the municipality they want.

La CIBA, a climate refuge and babysitting service

Until September, La CIBA becomes a climate refuge and opens its doors on weekends from 9 to 21 hours to provide a cool space for the public. During the Summer Camp, a specific area will be set up for young children and their families, with free play materials, ideal for resting and protecting themselves from high outdoor temperatures.

Moreover, the babysitting service MenudaCIBA remains operational in summer, from June 22 to September 2, in the mornings. It is a free resource for families with children aged 9 months to 12 years, designed to support work-life balance during school holidays.

The new Citizenship Equality Plan is underway

The Santa Coloma City Council has begun the process of drafting the new Citizenship Equality Plan, the document that will organise municipal policies on equality between women and men. In the coming months, working groups open to citizen participation will be convened. Interested individuals can visit La CIBA to make their contributions.

This plan complements summer initiatives like the Summer Camp, reinforcing the municipality's commitment to values-based education starting from childhood. Spaces for activities are limited, so the organisers recommend registering as soon as possible to secure a spot.
