FETICO has signed the III Collective Agreement of Citrus of the Andarax, which includes salary and social improvements for the workers of the Don Simón plant, directly impacting the Jaume Serra winery in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
The FETICO union and the García Carrión group have signed a new collective agreement that will benefit employees at the Gádor (Almería) plant and, by extension, those at the Jaume Serra winery in Vilanova i la Geltrú. The agreement, signed on July 10, establishes an immediate salary increase of 2% and improvements in working conditions that will also apply at the Catalan centre, where FETICO is represented.
Salary improvements and reduction of holiday working days
The agreement includes a reduction in the maximum number of Sundays and holidays worked per year, allowing workers to better balance their personal and professional lives. Additionally, remuneration for overtime and work on holidays has been increased, as well as the night shift bonus. The hours bank has been regulated more favourably for employees, and the bonuses for company loyalty have been updated.
In the social sphere, the text includes new educational assistance for workers' children, an aspect that FETICO considers key to supporting families. Antonio Pérez, General Secretary of FETICO, highlighted that "collective bargaining is the most effective tool to advance labour rights when there is a willingness to dialogue."
Commitment to equality and diversity
The agreement strengthens measures against harassment and discrimination, promoting equal opportunities in the workplace. It aligns with current regulations to ensure a safe and inclusive environment, an aspect that directly affects the 85 workers at the Almería plant and, by extension, those in Vilanova i la Geltrú. The Jaume Serra winery, dedicated to the production of wines and cavas, is one of the centres where FETICO has a significant presence within the García Carrión group.
The agreement also adapts various matters to the Sectoral Agreement for Vegetable Preserves, allowing employees to benefit from future improvements in this area. FETICO emphasises that this agreement represents a tangible advance in working conditions, especially in a sector like agri-food, where seasonality and workload are factors to consider.
A locally branded agreement
The signing of this III Collective Agreement comes at a time when collective bargaining is gaining prominence in the industrial sector. For the workers at the Jaume Serra winery in Vilanova i la Geltrú, the agreement serves as a reference for future negotiations at the centre, as it establishes a framework of improvements that could extend to other group centres in Catalonia. The García Carrión group, present in over 150 countries, maintains a social dialogue policy that, according to FETICO, has been key to reaching this agreement.
Workers in Vilanova i la Geltrú can now consult the details of the agreement with their union representatives. The implementation of the improvements will take effect from the signing, with the 2% salary increase already included in the July payroll. A practical note: employees interested in educational assistance must submit their application before September 30 to the Human Resources department.
