The Generalitat will launch bus line 502 in September between Guissona and Cervera, with 12 daily round trips and a frequency of 60 minutes.
The Generalitat of Catalonia has announced the creation of a new bus line that will connect Guissona and Cervera, two municipalities in the Segarra region of the Lleida province. The line, named 502, will begin operations next September and will offer 12 daily services in each direction from Monday to Friday, with a frequency of 60 minutes and an estimated travel time of 22 minutes.
This initiative is part of the second phase of the Generalitat's Shock Plan for improving intercity bus communications, aimed at strengthening public transport offerings in the area, enhancing connections between municipalities, and promoting more sustainable and accessible mobility. The Department of Territory has allocated an annual investment of around €215,000 for the operation of this new route.
The route of line 502 will include stops at the Cervera Railway Station, Tarroja de Segarra, Torrefeta (the latter only on demand), the Plaça de la Plana in Guissona, and the Rambla dels Segadors in Guissona. This aims to facilitate travel for work, academic purposes, and access to essential services and facilities.
The Director of Transport and Mobility, Susi López, presented the line alongside the mayors of the involved municipalities. López highlighted that "this new service represents a significant improvement for internal mobility in Segarra, as it connects the municipalities in the region more efficiently and facilitates access to educational, health, commercial, and administrative centres."
One of the most relevant aspects of the new line is that all tickets and fares integrated into the Territorial Mobility Authority of Lleida (ATM Lleida) will be valid. This will allow users to make transfers more easily and economically between different public transport modes in the area, such as trains or intercity buses.
The launch of line 502 responds to a long-standing demand from the residents of Guissona and Cervera, who have so far had limited public transport options for their daily commutes. With this new connection, the Generalitat hopes to reduce the use of private vehicles and contribute to the decarbonisation of transport in the region.
