A resident of Sabadell, aged 34, has died in a traffic accident on the BV-1248 road, following a head-on collision with another vehicle. The other driver has been seriously injured and has been taken to Mútua de Terrassa.
A tragic traffic accident has claimed the life of a 34-year-old man on the BV-1248 road, as it passes through Sabadell. The incident, which occurred on Friday, July 24, early in the morning, involved a head-on collision between two cars, according to sources from the Servei Català de Trànsit.
The emergency services received the call at 6:15 AM. Four patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra, three units from the Bombers de la Generalitat, and three ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), along with the GROS India team, a joint health resource of Bombers and SEM, were dispatched to the scene, located at kilometre 5.5 of the road connecting Sabadell with Matadepera.
The emergency services found both drivers trapped and with life-threatening injuries. The deceased young man, identified as O.A.T. and a resident of Sabadell, was urgently taken to Hospital Parc Taulí, where doctors were unable to save his life and pronounced him dead shortly after admission.
The other driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also seriously injured. After being stabilised at the accident site by SEM medical staff, he was evacuated by ambulance to Mútua de Terrassa, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely wrecked, necessitating the closure of the BV-1248 for several hours to facilitate rescue operations and the subsequent clearing of the road. Agents from the Mossos d'Esquadra are in charge of the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
With this victim, a total of 77 people have lost their lives on interurban roads in Catalonia so far this year, according to provisional data from the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT).
