The PSC of Terrassa proposes a comprehensive plan against insecurity in five neighbourhoods

The PSC of Terrassa proposes a comprehensive plan against insecurity in five neighbourhoods, with coordinated inspections, video surveillance, and increased legal pressure.

The PSC of Terrassa has presented a package of measures to improve security and coexistence in Sant Pere Nord, Ègara, La Maurina, Sant Llorenç, and Ca n'Anglada. The candidate Javi García criticises the passivity of the municipal government.

The socialist candidate for the mayoralty of Terrassa, Javi García, presented a set of proposals on Thursday to strengthen security in the neighbourhoods most affected by crime and incivility. The initiative, which the PSC calls a comprehensive plan, focuses on five areas: the southern zone of Sant Pere Nord, Ègara, La Maurina, Sant Llorenç, and Ca n'Anglada.

García has denounced the lack of leadership from the municipal government of Tot per Terrassa in the face of increasing coexistence problems. "The people of Terrassa do not want excuses, they want results," stated the candidate, who urged the City Council to explain how many times it has used legal tools to urge the eviction of occupied homes that generate conflicts.

According to the socialists, the situation in these neighbourhoods has become chronic due to conflictual occupations, drug trafficking, and incivil acts that the municipal police cannot address. García emphasised that security cannot be a debate left to the far-right: "Progressive forces have the obligation to guarantee order from social justice."

Comprehensive inspections in the style of L'Hospitalet

The PSC's flagship proposal is the implementation of a comprehensive inspection device inspired by the Pla Nautilus of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. This mechanism would coordinate the Municipal Police with the Urban Planning, Health, Licensing, and Labour Inspection services to act on establishments that generate coexistence problems.

The plan also includes the installation of intelligent video surveillance cameras in the most conflictive points of the neighbourhoods. García has argued that this measure should be accompanied by a specific team of social educators and street mediators working closely with neighbourhood associations.

"Security is not just more police. It is also prevention, mediation, and constant presence in the territory," explained the candidate, who insisted that it is necessary to act before conflicts become entrenched.

Increased legal pressure against repeat offenders

The socialists propose to strengthen the use of legal tools against criminal occupations and repeat offenders. Specifically, they demand that the City Council take legal action against repeat offenders and request precautionary measures to protect residents.

García reminded that the municipal government has legal instruments that it is not using with sufficient determination. "We need a government that acts with determination, rigor, and responsibility," he stated, referring to the management of Tot per Terrassa.

The socialist candidate concluded by stating that his party is prepared to lead a change in the security policy of Terrassa. "We will not accept the normalisation of the degradation of our neighbourhoods. Residents deserve to regain their peace, and we are ready to govern," he affirmed.

The PSC's proposal comes in a context of growing citizen concern about security in various parts of the city. The socialists have sought to establish their own profile in this area, traditionally associated with conservative parties, and they do so with a plan that combines a tough stance against crime with social prevention policies.

The comprehensive plan, which the PSC will present at the next municipal plenary session, foresees a financial allocation yet to be specified. García has indicated that in the coming days they will detail the estimated cost of the measures and the implementation timeline. Meanwhile, residents of the five affected neighbourhoods hope that promises will translate into action.
