The Summer Festival of Castelldefels 2026 introduces a new feature: the Penyes de Festa Major, groups of citizens organised to energise the festivities. Registrations will be open from July 13 to 31.
Castelldefels is taking a step forward to make its Festa Major an even more collective event. The City Council has launched the Penyes de Festa Major, a traditional figure in many municipalities that is now arriving in the city to directly involve residents in the organisation and festive atmosphere.
A More Open and Participatory Festival Model
The initiative is born with the intention of strengthening community ties and promoting coexistence among people of different ages, neighbourhoods, and social realities. The penyes will play an active role in concerts, popular activities, and street events, bringing colour and animation to the streets of Castelldefels.
According to the City Council, the aim is to build a Festa Major that is "open, participatory, and created by everyone". The penyes will help keep traditions and popular culture alive, while also strengthening the local associative fabric. The deadline to register the penyes will be open from July 13 to 31, 2026, both dates inclusive. To formalise the registration, a form must be submitted with the details of the responsible person and an approximate list of members.
Participating penyes must respect the coexistence, safety, and civility rules established by the organisation and follow the instructions of municipal services, the Local Police, and Civil Protection at all times. This ensures that the festival proceeds in an orderly and safe manner for everyone.
