The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two men aged 26 and 24 as the alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery against a woman walking with her minor child in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The events occurred on June 22 on Avenida del Bosc, in Pubilla Cases.
The Mossos d'Esquadra from the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat police station have arrested two men, aged 26 and 24, as the alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery that took place on June 22 on Avenida del Bosc, in the Pubilla Cases neighbourhood. The victim, a woman walking with her minor child, was approached by the assailants who were riding an electric scooter on the pavement.
According to the police, one of the suspects approached the woman and snatched her mobile phone while the other waited with the scooter ready to facilitate their escape. The victim, rather than remaining passive, followed the perpetrators and attempted to recover the device unsuccessfully.
Shortly after, the woman located one of the suspects and alerted a bystander to call the police. Upon noticing the presence of the officers, the suspect fled on foot through several streets until he was intercepted and arrested by the Urban Crime Group. During the arrest, he put up strong resistance and two officers sustained minor injuries.
Investigation and second arrest
The investigative efforts carried out by the Multi-recidivism Group, in coordination with the Urban Crime Group of L'Hospitalet, allowed for the identification of the second suspect, who was arrested on July 6. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing the same t-shirt he had on the day of the robbery.
The investigation has revealed that the two arrested acted in a coordinated manner: while one rode the scooter and ensured their escape, the other physically carried out the robbery, choosing victims they could approach more easily, such as women walking alone with small children.
Background and Plan Bastion
Both detainees were classified as Active Criminals with Risk of Persistence (DARP), meaning they are priority targets for the Mossos d'Esquadra due to their high criminal activity. They had accumulated eighteen and six police records, respectively. Their arrest is part of the Pla Bastion 2026, a plan by the Catalan police to reduce recidivism and urban crime.
The two detainees were brought before the guardia court of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, accused of a crime of robbery with violence, a crime of assault against law enforcement officers, and two minor assault charges.
The swift action of the police and citizen collaboration were key to resolving the case. Residents of Pubilla Cases and Torrassa, where the arrests took place, have expressed their concern about street safety, especially in areas where electric scooters are used recklessly.
The Mossos remind the importance of reporting any criminal incidents and not attempting to recover items on one's own, as it may jeopardise physical safety. In the event of being a victim of a robbery, it is advisable to call 112 and provide as much information as possible about the suspects.
