The first edition of Light On Startup, driven by the Castelldefels City Council, has concluded with the presentation of 19 projects to investors at the Demo Day on July 14.
On July 14, the Auditori de Castelldefels hosted the first Demo Day of the municipal accelerator Light On Startup. There, 19 local entrepreneurial teams showcased their business ideas to investors and stakeholders from the business ecosystem. The event capped off 13 weeks of intensive training, mentoring, and collaborative work.
An intensive programme to validate ideas
Light On Startup began in April 2026 as a free acceleration programme aimed at individuals with early-stage projects. Over three months, participants attended practical workshops and sessions with specialised mentors. The goal was clear: to move from idea to viable business model.
Each project had eight minutes of pitch during the Demo Day to convince investors. The proposals covered sectors such as technology, sustainability, and community services. The City Council of Castelldefels, which initiated the programme, highlighted the quality and diversity of the projects presented.
“We have seen very solid ideas and teams with great execution capacity. This demonstrates the talent we have in Castelldefels,” said a municipal spokesperson.
Beyond the Demo Day: support until formal establishment
The positive reception of the programme has led the council to launch a second phase of support. This new stage will help entrepreneurs progress towards the formal establishment of their companies. The aim is for the projects not to remain on paper and to generate real economic activity in the city.
The programme has also created a local entrepreneurial community that will remain active beyond the accelerator. Participants have highly valued the exchange of experiences and the synergies generated among them.
A boost to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Castelldefels
With this first edition, Castelldefels positions itself as a hub for supporting entrepreneurship. The initiative aims to retain local talent and attract investment. For residents, this translates into new employment opportunities and services in the medium term.
