The city is gearing up with pre-events starting from August 8. The opening speech, delivered by Pikeras and the Coral Marinada, will kick off four days of festivities featuring concerts, tradition, and sports.
Castelldefels is all set for its Festa Major 2026, which will take place from August 13 to 16. The countdown has begun: there are only ten days left for the city to be filled with activities for all audiences, featuring a programme that combines tradition, music, sports, and family-friendly proposals.
Before the official start, the Agrupación de Cultura Popular de Castelldefels has organised a calendar of pre-events to create a festive atmosphere. On Saturday, August 8, the Cursa d'Orientació Gar-i-Got will kick off at 7:30 am, followed at 10 pm by the performance of 'La llegenda del Gar-i-Got'. The following day, Sunday 9, will feature the Diada Castellera at 11:30 am and a family giant activity at 6 pm.
On Thursday, August 13, at 9 pm, the balcony of the Town Hall will host the traditional Pregó de Festa Major, which this year will be delivered by Pikeras and the Coral Marinada. As a new feature, the Penyes de Festa Major will be officially welcomed in the Plenary Hall before the opening speech.
The inaugural day will have a strong youth focus with the FAK (Festa Jove Alternativa) in front of the Josep Lluís Sert Institute, featuring workshops, a market, and activities run by AVIVA, alongside concerts and DJ sessions with artists such as Nadlyn, Estoparte, Ouineta, MDNYO, Dj Pau Lara, and Pikeras. In the evening, the Plaza de la Iglesia will host concerts by Ginestà (10 pm) and Los Toreros Muertos (midnight).
Friday, August 14, will be dedicated to families in the morning, featuring storytelling shows, workshops with Senyora Bombolles, a giant planting event, and a Sustainable Water space. In the afternoon, the Plaza Neus Català will host a tribute to Camela (8 pm), while the Parque de la Muntanyeta will be the scene of the traditional popular paella (9 pm), a Musical Bingo, and the concert by Lo + POP. The night will feature a must-see event for rock lovers with Bulsara, a Queen tribute band, at 10:30 pm in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
On Saturday, August 15, the main day of the festival, the little ones can enjoy a foam party and the Splash Slide water slide. At noon, the Festa Major Procession will take place through the town centre, organised by the Agrupación de Cultura Popular with the support of the Parish of Santa María de la Salut, featuring the Colla Nova de Bastoners de Castelldefels and special guests Giants and Bigheads from Torrejón de Ardoz.
Saturday night will spread music across several stages. The Plaza Neus Català will host a habaneras concert with Americanus (8 pm) and the Brindis (10:30 pm). In the Parque de la Muntanyeta, Besta, winner of Nous Talents 2026, will perform (9 pm), followed by The Tyets (10 pm). The Plaza de la Iglesia will feature Opus Nova, from Camerata Bacasis (10:30 pm), and the Tribute to the Best (12:30 am).
Sunday, August 16, will be the grand finale. The Parque de la Muntanyeta will host the Holi Dolly Festival (6 pm), while the streets of the centre will fill with rhythm and fire with the drumming, the Ball de Diables, and the Hell's Gate Show (8 pm), followed by the traditional Correfoc (8:45 pm). At 10 pm, one of the star performances will take place: the concert by Chenoa in the Parque de la Muntanyeta. The Plaza de la Iglesia will host dancing with the Orquesta Centauro (10:30 pm).
The festival will conclude with the traditional fireworks on the seafront (11:45 pm) and the closing session with the Festa DJ Big Friday in the Plaza de la Iglesia. Additionally, the sports programme includes a football match between UE Castelldefels and UA Horta on August 15 at 7 pm in the Municipal Field Els Canyars, and the XXVI Festa Major Chess Tournament on the 16th at 9:30 am in the Sala Margarida Xirgu.
The Fira d'Atraccions will also be part of the celebration, with a more inclusive approach so that all residents can enjoy the attractions. The pre-events and the complete programme are designed for both residents and visitors to experience intense and varied days of festivities.
