The Biblioplatja of Castelldefels maintains its loan service in August and adds the Hour of the Environment, with free workshops on marine fauna for the whole family.

The Biblioplatja of Castelldefels continues this August as a meeting point between reading and environmental awareness right by the beach. The loan and consultation service of the Ramon Fernàndez Jurado Library remains active, and the summer programme includes a new edition of the Hour of the Environment, a cycle of free activities aimed at discovering marine biodiversity and reflecting on its protection.

The sessions will be held at 7 p.m. under the pergola of the promenade, in front of the Natur@ula and the Biblioplatja at Pineda Beach (Carme Romaní). All activities are free and do not require prior registration.

The cycle kicks off on Thursday, August 6, with Marine Invertebrates, a family activity led by Edulis to learn about some of the invertebrate species of the Mediterranean and their role in marine ecosystems. This will be followed on Tuesday, August 11, by SOS Whale: Rescue, also with Edulis, focusing on large cetaceans and the necessary actions for their protection.

The CRAM Foundation will take over on Thursday, August 20, with Dolphin Ulises Needs Help, a proposal to bring the reality of marine mammals and the challenges threatening their survival closer to the public. This activity is supported by seasonal establishments on Castelldefels beach.

The cycle will conclude on Thursday, August 27, with We Have Found a Turtle Nest, also led by the CRAM Foundation. The session will address the increasingly common phenomenon of sea turtle nesting along the Catalan coast and the protective measures that must be adopted. This activity also has the collaboration of seasonal establishments.

The Hour of the Environment is organised by the Environment and Library departments of the Castelldefels City Council and is part of the summer programme of the Biblioplatja, a space that combines reading, leisure, and environmental education along the city's seafront.
