The Barberà del Vallès Town Hall has begun improvement works at several educational centres during the summer. The most notable action is the complete renovation of l'Escola del Bosc, with a budget of €227,828.31.
The Barberà del Vallès Town Hall has launched a package of maintenance and improvement works at various schools in the city, taking advantage of the summer break. The most ambitious intervention of these weeks is taking place at l'Escola del Bosc, where a comprehensive interior renovation is being carried out with a budget of €227,828.31.
The works, framed within the city project 'Cuina de col·lectivitats', include the creation of three new early childhood education classrooms, the construction of a new dining area, and the adaptation of a sensory room. All works are expected to be completed by next September, in time for the start of the new school year.
The acting mayor and Education councillor, Daniel González Cabrera, visited the works on Tuesday and highlighted that
“the summer break is the ideal time to carry out these comprehensive improvement works without interfering with the daily activities of the students. With this investment in l'Escola del Bosc, we optimise the learning space and take an essential step to deploy the 'Cuina de col·lectivitats' project.”

The renovation of the dining area at l'Escola del Bosc is closely linked to the project ‘Cuina de col·lectivitats i Escola Taller de restauració de Barberà del Vallès’. This municipal action is a strategic city initiative that promotes a new model of collective food provision based on healthy, sustainable, and local criteria.
The future collective kitchen will have the capacity to prepare up to 900 daily meals (450 hot meals and 450 cold meals), primarily intended to supply the dining areas of municipal public nurseries and those schools and institutes in the city that do not have their own kitchen and wish to join.
The project prioritises the incorporation of fresh, local, seasonal, short-circuit, and organic products, promoting responsible consumption and healthier eating in public facilities. Additionally, it advocates for social value contracting, specialised training, and job inclusion, integrating a restoration training school aimed at the employment integration of young people and those in the process of integration.
This transversal intervention is included in the Pla d'Actuació Municipal (PAM) 2023-2027 of the Barberà del Vallès Town Hall, and responds to ecological transition policies and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, aiming to weave a more resilient, healthy, inclusive, and environmentally respectful local food system.
With the completion of the works in September, the students of l'Escola del Bosc will enjoy completely renovated spaces for the new school year.
