The mayor of Esplugues, Eduard Sanz, has met with Endesa officials to address the repeated power interruptions. The company will invest over €1.4 million to renew the network.
The Town Hall of Esplugues de Llobregat and Endesa have finalised an investment plan to tackle the electrical supply issues that have affected the municipality in recent weeks. The company will allocate over €1.4 million to strengthen the medium and low voltage network.
The meeting, held this week, was attended by Mayor Eduard Sanz and the territorial director of Endesa in Catalonia, Enric Brazís. The causes of the outages were analysed, linked to the failure of two transformers and an incident at the Collblanc substation.
The plan includes the replacement of underground cabling in several streets and areas of the municipality. Among them are the Palau urbanisation and streets such as Verge de la Paloma, Joan XXIII, Ignasi Iglesias, Alcalde Martí Figueras, Castillo, Rovellat, Sant Salvador, Esmeralda, and Mestre Joan Corrales.
Additionally, the construction of a new underground line on the avenue dels Països Catalans is planned to improve network interconnection. The cabling on the same avenue and in the streets Sant Mateu, Verge de Guadalupe, del Carme, Marquès d’Espanya, Gall, and Enric Granados will also be renewed.
Mayor Sanz positively assessed Endesa's commitment but warned that they will monitor to ensure that the actions are carried out and translate into a real improvement in service. "The recent failures have caused significant inconvenience to the public and businesses," he noted.
The residents of Esplugues have suffered recurrent power cuts in recent weeks, leading to complaints and dissatisfaction. With this investment, the council hopes that the electrical network will gain reliability and capacity, avoiding further incidents.
The works will be carried out in the coming months, although a detailed schedule has not yet been established. The Town Hall has committed to inform those affected about any necessary scheduled cuts during the works.
