The Catalan Football Federation has scheduled the Copa Catalunya final for September 2 at 20:30, which will see CE Sabadell face FC Barcelona Atlètic at Nova Creu Alta in Sabadell.
The Centre d'Esports Sabadell will play the Copa Catalunya final at home, even though on paper they are the away team. The Catalan Football Federation (FCF) announced on Wednesday that the match against FC Barcelona Atlètic will be held on September 2 at 20:30 at Nova Creu Alta, the stadium of the striped team.
The match, corresponding to the 2025/26 season, could not take place last season due to scheduling issues. Now, with the 2026/27 campaign already underway, the FCF has managed to fit the final into the calendar. Sabadell, which competes in the Liga Hypermotion, will play the match between the third and fourth rounds of the league competition.
The Barça Atlètic team, on the other hand, will not begin their journey in the Segunda RFEF until the weekend of September 6 and 7, so the clash against Sabadell will serve as a demanding pre-season test for Juliano Belletti's players.
The final will be broadcast live on Esport 3, the sports channel of the Catalan public television. Tickets, as reported by the FCF in a statement, will go on sale soon. "It will be a meeting between two of the clubs with the most history in Catalan football," highlighted the institution, which has once again opted for "a reference venue" to host the competition.
Sabadell reached the final after eliminating Nàstic de Tarragona in a penalty shootout last February. Barça Atlètic, for their part, overcame Andorra 2-1 in the other semi-final. The striped team, led by Ferran Costa, had expressed their preference to resolve the competition the previous season, but ultimately the FCF could not set a date until now.
The fact that Sabadell plays the final at their stadium, despite being the away team in the draw, provides an added advantage for the interests of the club from Vallès. Nova Creu Alta, with a capacity of over 11,000 spectators, will be the setting for an event that promises strong emotions.
The last time Sabadell played in a Copa Catalunya final was in 2019, when they triumphed over FC Barcelona in a penalty shootout. That title, won at Estadi Johan Cruyff, remains one of the club's recent milestones. Now, the team will seek to repeat their success against the Barça Atlètic, a consistently demanding rival due to their connection with Barça's youth academy.
For the striped fans, the final on September 2 will be an opportunity to see their team in a decisive match at home, something that hasn't happened in years in official Catalan competitions. The club is already working on logistics to ensure the day is a celebration of local football.
