Espanyol faces Sabadell in their third pre-season test

Espanyol hosts Sabadell this Saturday at Dani Jarque in their third pre-season friendly before heading to England to face Burnley and Middlesbrough.

RCD Espanyol faces this Saturday their third pre-season friendly against CE Sabadell at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque. After the training camp in Navata, the blue and white team is finalising their preparations before travelling to England.

RCD Espanyol will play this Saturday at 10:30 hours at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque in their third pre-season match, this time against CE Sabadell. The perico team thus returns to their home ground after the training stay in Navata (Girona), where they have accumulated physical and tactical workload.

Defender Omar El Hilali has positively assessed the stage in Girona. “There has been a lot of workload and a very good atmosphere. We return to Barcelona happy with everything we have done,” said the youth player, who expressed satisfaction with the team's work rate.

The match against Sabadell will serve as a test before the blue and white expedition heads to England next week. There, they will face two challenging commitments: Burnley and Middlesbrough, both teams from the English Championship. El Hilali emphasised the importance of being fully prepared for the start of the League: “The next three opponents will demand a lot from us, but we must think about being ready for the League. We have to win; we have no other way to see football.”

The perico fans have responded massively in previous tests, and a good turnout is expected at Dani Jarque. The dressing room values this unconditional support. “Wherever we go, our fans will never let us down,” concluded El Hilali emphatically.

Espanyol, who play in the Second Division, approaches this pre-season with the intention of returning to elite professional football. Coach Manolo González is testing different line-ups and systems to find the starting block ahead of the league kick-off. The match against Sabadell, a team from Group 3 of the Second Federation, will be a good touchstone to measure the squad's fitness.
