UIC Barcelona's Sant Cugat Campus will be the venue for the XXVII National Congress and III International Congress of the Spanish Society of Medical Education and Health Sciences (SEDEM) on November 19, 20, and 21. The meeting, which will bring together leading experts, will serve as the kickoff for the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Medicine Degree.
The Sant Cugat Campus of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) will become the epicentre of medical education in the country on November 19, 20, and 21. During these three days, it will host the XXVII National Congress and III International Congress of the Spanish Society of Medical Education and Health Sciences (SEDEM), an event that will gather top educators, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
Under the theme 'Horizons of Excellence: From Scientific Evidence to Educational Innovation', the congress will address the current challenges in training future doctors. Key topics include the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching, the development of critical thinking, the quality of clinical practices, and the role of simulation in patient safety.
A Recognition of UIC Barcelona's Teaching Model
The choice of the Sant Cugat Campus as the venue is not coincidental. The organisation of the congress represents an explicit recognition of the training model of UIC Barcelona, which combines clinical practice, research, and humanistic values. The centre features the Advanced Simulation Integrated Centre (CISA), which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year. Two decades later, the anniversary invites reflection. The degree has trained hundreds of professionals who now work in hospitals and health centres across Catalonia and Spain. The Sant Cugat campus integrates seven disciplines in the health field under the UIC Health brand: Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Dentistry, Bioengineering, and Biomedical Sciences.
