Manresa is preparing for a Festa Major that promises to be unforgettable. From August 27 to 31, the capital of Bages will be filled with events for all audiences, with a major novelty: an aerial show with 400 drones that will illuminate the sky of Parc de l'Agulla just before the traditional fireworks display.
The drone choreography, managed by the Manresa-based company Crostal Aerial, will take place on Sunday, August 30 at 10 PM. The devices will ascend from 30 to 120 meters high and create 16 images that are part of the city's collective imagination. This show is the highlight of this year and is expected to attract a large number of visitors.
Following the drones, the fireworks will commence, launching over 360 kilograms of gunpowder accompanied by Catalan music, provided by Pirotècnia Tomàs. Both shows can be enjoyed from Parc de l'Agulla, one of the city's green lungs.
The bulk of the events will be concentrated from Thursday, August 27 to Monday, August 31. Before this, on August 23, the Children's Moscada, the Children's Correfoc, and the Xàldiga Imagery workshops will be held. On the evening of Wednesday, August 26, Tap'Antic will offer gastronomic proposals in the Historic Centre, and there will be a parade of giants from Plaça Cots to Plaça Major.
On Monday, September 1, the Festa Major will conclude with the Correfoc and a subsequent dance. However, institutional events also have their space: on Saturday, August 30 at noon, the Manresa scientist Estel Blay Carreras, winner of the Rosa Argelaguet Isanta award, will give the opening speech. In the afternoon, the Tronada Manresana will take place in Plaça Major, followed by a parade through the centre. On Sunday morning, the municipal imagery procession will occur at the Seu, along with the planting and dancing in Plaça Major, featuring the Ball del Rossinyol, the Bolangera de Manresa, and the sardana 'Manresa is celebrating.'
For the fifth consecutive year, access to the balconies of number 5 in Plaça Major will be raffled off to view the Correfoc, the Correfoc Show, the Imagery Dance, and the Children's Moscada. Registrations can be made from July 24 at 9 AM until August 14 at 9 AM, via the municipal website or in person at the Citizen Attention Office. The winners will be announced on August 14.
One of the most anticipated events is Manresa Desconeguda, which opens spaces usually closed to the public. On Thursday, August 27, the Capuchin convent, founded in 1638 and recently acquired by the City Council, will be open for visits. The cloister, workspaces, and the sisters' rooms will be accessible, and the destructions during the Tragic Week and the Civil War will be explained. On Friday, August 28, the Panyos factory, which celebrates its bicentenary this year, will open its doors. This is the oldest preserved river factory in Catalonia and a Cultural Asset of National Interest. The tour will start under the Pont Nou and go into the factory, a symbol of Catalan industrialization.
Visits to Manresa Desconeguda are free, but prior registration is required starting from August 24 at 10 AM, at the Tourism Office or at manresaturisme.cat. Both spaces are partially accessible for people with reduced mobility.
