The Castelldefels Town Council has activated the pre-alert of the municipal plan against forest fires for this Wednesday, August 5, due to the high danger level declared by the Generalitat.
The Castelldefels Town Council has issued a pre-alert statement for the Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk (PAM INFOCAT) for this Wednesday, August 5. According to data from the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Food and the Rural Agents Corps of the Generalitat, the municipality is at a high risk of forest fire and at Level 2/4 of the Alfa Plan.
The pre-alert is a preventive measure to reinforce surveillance and keep all municipal services coordinated. This phase does not imply the formal activation of the emergency plan and will automatically cease when the risk episode ends, provided there are no incidents or the danger level is not raised.
Municipal device and preventive measures
In light of this situation, emergency groups and municipal services (Infrastructure Unit, ADF Castelldefels, Civil Protection and Local Police) have initiated control and preparation actions. Supervision of the natural environment and access points has been intensified, checking the condition of forest paths to ensure the passage of firefighting vehicles, as well as protection zones and the hydrant network.
The Local Police maintains control of access and entry routes to forest areas and mountain neighbourhoods, such as the Sentiu road or the paths of Cal Ganxo. They also have prepared evacuation routes in case they are needed. Additionally, the ADF and municipal services have equipped operational teams, firefighting vehicles, manual tools and water tanks, coordinating with Social Services to assist people with reduced mobility or vulnerable groups.
Recommendations for citizens
The council urges caution to all residents, especially those living in neighbourhoods situated in the forest-urban interface: El Poal, Bellamar, Montmar, Can Roca, Vista Alegre and Els Canyars. In these areas, it is recommended to remove combustible materials from around the house and garden, keep roofs and gutters clean, and have basic items ready such as a flashlight, medications, documentation, and a charged mobile phone.
It is completely prohibited to light fires in forest areas or nearby, as well as to use barbecues, launch fireworks or any ignition source. Cigarettes or burning objects must not be thrown from vehicles, nor should roads and forest paths be blocked or parked on, as these are essential routes for firefighters and emergency services.
If a column of smoke or signs of fire are detected, one must immediately call emergency number 112 providing the most accurate location possible. Do not attempt to extinguish the fire on your own and always follow the instructions of security forces.
The pre-alert will remain active as long as the risk situation lasts, which affects the entire province of Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia due to high temperatures and dry land. Conditions are expected to improve in the coming days, but in the meantime, surveillance will continue in the most sensitive areas of the municipality.
