Road traffic accidents in Castelldefels continue to decrease during the first half of 2026, with 153 accidents and 81 people injured, a 5% reduction compared to the same period last year. Serious injuries have also decreased, from 8 to 6, consolidating the positive trend.
Castelldefels has recorded 153 traffic accidents between January and June 2026, with a total of 81 people injured, representing a 5% decrease compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Local Police. Serious injuries also reduced by 25%, from 8 to 6.
These figures consolidate the positive trend of recent years. In 2025, there were no fatalities and a 12% reduction in the total number of accidents compared to the previous year, reflecting the effectiveness of the prevention, control, and awareness measures promoted by the Local Police.
Despite the overall improvement, vulnerable users still account for half of the victims. During this first half of the year, 50% of the injured were motorcyclists, pedestrians, cyclists, or users of personal mobility vehicles (PMVs). Motorcyclists lead the list with 32 injured, followed by pedestrians (15), cyclists (12), and electric scooter users (8).
The consumption of alcohol and drugs remains a relevant risk factor: 14% of the accidents recorded in the first half of 2026 involved these substances. This data reinforces the need to maintain and strengthen the preventive campaigns that the Local Police carry out throughout the year.
By profile, men represent 60% of the people injured in traffic accidents in the municipality.
Avenida de la Constitución has established itself as the black spot of the municipality, with 13 accidents so far this year. It is followed by Paseo Marítimo and Avenida del Canal Olímpico, each with 7 incidents. This monitoring allows the Local Police to direct their actions and propose improvements in the areas with the highest accident rates.
The Local Police positively assess the evolution of the data but remind that the goal remains to reduce both the number of accidents and their severity, especially among the most vulnerable groups. To this end, they will continue to work on prevention through risk behaviour controls, actions in high-accident areas, and awareness campaigns aimed at the entire citizenry.
The Castelldefels City Council has highlighted that these figures are the result of ongoing work and that the goal is to move towards safer mobility for all residents. Upcoming campaigns will focus on protecting motorcyclists and pedestrians, the most affected groups.
