Aemet forecasts an intensely hot Saturday in the province of Barcelona, with maximums reaching 35 degrees and storms in the afternoon. Nights will be tropical along the coast.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) announces a widespread rise in temperatures in the province of Barcelona this Saturday, accompanied by showers and storms in the afternoon. Thermometers are expected to reach 35 degrees inland and in the pre-coastal areas, while on the coast, maximums will hover around 30-32 degrees. Minimums will not drop below 22 degrees, leading to tropical nights, especially in the coastal and metropolitan areas.

Afternoon Storms: Most Affected Areas

According to Aemet, the day will start with few clouds or clear skies, but from midday, daytime cloud formation will occur. Showers and storms are expected, which could be locally strong in the interior of the province, particularly in Vallès Occidental, Vallès Oriental, and Bages. These storms may be accompanied by small hail and very strong wind gusts. On the coast, the probability of rain is lower, although some scattered showers cannot be ruled out. Aemet has issued a yellow warning for storms in the interior of the province of Barcelona between 2 PM and 8 PM.

Intense Heat and Dust: Recommendations for Citizens

Maximum temperatures will rise significantly compared to Friday, exceeding 35 degrees in places like Terrassa, Sabadell, Manresa, and Vic. In the city of Barcelona, temperatures will be around 32 degrees, but the feeling of mugginess will be high due to humidity. Additionally, the presence of dust is expected in the southeastern part of the peninsula, which could weakly reach the province of Barcelona, leaving the sky slightly hazy. Aemet recommends staying well-hydrated, avoiding sun exposure during the peak hours of the day, and paying attention to weather updates, especially if engaging in outdoor activities. Tropical nights, with minimums not dropping below 22-24 degrees in the coastal and metropolitan areas, will make it difficult to rest, so it is advised to ventilate homes during the early hours of the morning.

Wind and Sea Conditions: Forecast for the Barcelona Coast

The wind will be light and variable during the morning, but will intensify in the afternoon, with an east component predominating along the coast. On the Barcelona coast, northeast winds with moderate intervals are expected, which will ease by the end of the day. The sea state will be choppy, with waves of 1 to 2 meters along the coast. For those planning to go to the beach, Aemet warns that the risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon advises keeping an eye on weather conditions and getting out of the water if thunder is heard. The sea temperature will remain around 24-25 degrees, ideal for swimming during the intense morning sun hours.

Context: A Hot July in the Province

This Saturday falls within a July that has been particularly warm in the province of Barcelona, with several days above 30 degrees and recurring tropical nights. Aemet reminds that although storms can be intense, they are common at this time of year and help to cool the environment. In fact, it is expected that maximum temperatures will drop slightly on Sunday, although instability will continue. For Monday, the forecast indicates another thermal rise. Residents of the province of Barcelona will have to cope with the heat and evening storms, a typical pattern of the Mediterranean summer that at least ensures that the mugginess does not linger.
