Barcelona wakes up this Monday with a yellow alert for rain along the coast, according to AEMET. Temperatures will hover around 30 degrees and the Rodalies network continues to face disruptions.
The city of Barcelona faces the last week of July with a day marked by meteorological instability. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a yellow alert for rain in the coastal area of Barcelona, which will be in effect during the early hours of the day.
According to AEMET's forecast, Monday will start with overcast skies and light precipitation, especially in the coastal strip. As the morning progresses, the cloud cover will decrease, giving way to a clear afternoon. Temperatures will remain stable, with highs of 30 degrees and lows of 22. The thermal sensation will reach 31 degrees during the central hours, while the wind will blow with light breezes from the southeast.
The yellow alert implies a low meteorological risk, but caution is advised in coastal areas and outdoor activities. Showers could be locally intense, although of short duration.
Regarding mobility, the Rodalies network in Barcelona continues to be affected by incidents from recent days. Line R3 remains affected by a malfunction in the railway traffic regulation system, which requires an alternative bus service for part of the route. Renfe has provided buses between the affected stations while repairs are carried out.
On the other hand, Adif has stabilised the ground after the Vallbona sinkhole, which affected lines R2, R2 Nord, and R11. Preliminary tests for the full recovery of circulation are ongoing, with no specific date set yet for the normalisation of service. Users of these lines should check updated schedules and anticipate possible delays.
On the access roads to Barcelona, traffic has complications from early on. According to the Catalan Traffic Service, there are delays of up to five kilometres on the Litoral ring road (B-10), between Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs, heading towards Nus Llobregat. There is also heavy traffic on the Ronda de Dalt (B-20), between kilometres 13 and 16, in the same direction. It is recommended to use alternative transport or adjust travel times to avoid peak hours.
For the residents of Barcelona, this yellow alert day does not imply special restrictions, but it is advisable to stay alert to the meteorological evolution. The Barcelona City Council recommends avoiding flood-prone areas and not parking vehicles in rambles or dry riverbeds. Additionally, it reminds that emergency services are activated to address any incidents.
The forecast for the rest of the week points to a gradual improvement in the weather, with temperatures remaining similar and a lower probability of rain starting Tuesday.
