The Sitges Local Government Board approved a package of grants totalling over €115,700 on Monday. The Casino Prado Suburense receives the largest amount, €95,000, for cultural activities.
The Sitges Town Council has greenlit a set of financial aids that strengthen the cultural, social, and educational fabric of the municipality. The Local Government Board has approved direct grants totalling over €115,700, highlighting the €95,000 awarded to the Casino Prado Suburense for the promotion of cultural, artistic, and recreational events linked to Sitges culture during the 2026 financial year.
Support for diversity and education
In the social sphere, the Colors Sitges Link Association will receive €8,000 for its Comprehensive Awareness, Support, and Accompaniment Programme for the LGTBIQ+ Diversity of Sitges. This entity, a reference in defending the rights of the community, will thus be able to continue its work of support and awareness in the locality.
Education has also been one of the priorities. The parents' association of the Agnès de Sitges school will receive €3,500 to enhance monitoring during leisure time for children with special educational needs at the summer camp in 2026. Meanwhile, the Miquel Utrillo school will have €5,000 to renew its radio and sound studio, a project that will allow students to improve their communication skills.
Boost for the audiovisual sector and associations
The audiovisual sector also receives a boost. The International Association of Independent Producers of the Mediterranean (APIMED) will have €4,200 to finance the 27th edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Documentary Market and Pitching Forum, an event that attracts professionals from across the Mediterranean and places Sitges on the map of independent documentaries.
Other local entities, such as the Tu-i-Nos Private Foundation, the Concertante association, and the Grup Pessebrista de Sitges, will also receive grants for their respective projects. The Grup Pessebrista, true to its tradition, will allocate the aid to the promotion, propagation, and dissemination of nativity scenes, one of the Christmas identities of the town.
Housing: renewed agreement with the Consell Comarcal
In the same session, the Local Government Board approved the update of the collaboration agreement with the Consell Comarcal del Garraf so that the Regional Office continues to provide housing assistance services in Sitges during 2026. The third clause, related to the financial contribution of the Town Council to cover the obligations arising from the agreement, has been modified, although the exact amount of the municipal contribution has not been specified. This service is key for many residents seeking advice on rental, rental aid, or housing issues.
Additionally, the local government has approved the hiring of maintenance works for urbanisation elements, the extension of the maintenance service for public lighting and traffic lights, and the renewal of the use concession for an office in the business centre.
According to municipal sources, the aim of these grants is to "strengthen the associative and cultural fabric of Sitges, as well as to ensure the provision of essential services to citizens."
The residents of Sitges can consult the details of the agreements on the Town Hall notice board. Beneficiary entities must justify their expenditure before the end of the year to receive the full amount of aid.
