The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 35-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of two burglaries in homes on Montseny Street. The incidents occurred during the night while the residents were inside.
A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra on July 16 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, accused of attempting to rob two adjacent homes on Montseny Street. The arrested individual accessed the flats by climbing the facade, in true 'spiderman' style, according to police sources.
The events took place around two in the morning. A neighbour alerted the police that an individual had entered her home through a window and, upon being discovered, had escaped via the terrace. Officers patrolling the area immediately responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the mossos located a man matching the description provided by the witness. At that moment, they saw him exiting through the window of a first-floor flat and descending the facade. When ordered to stop, the suspect jumped onto the police vehicle and fled on foot.
After a chase through the neighbourhood streets, the officers managed to intercept and arrest him in Plaza Espanyola. Subsequent investigations revealed that the arrested man had attempted to access two adjacent homes by climbing the facade.
In the first flat, a woman in the living room surprised the thief after he had opened the shutter and window and entered inside. When he realised he had been discovered, the man tried to escape via the stairs, but upon finding the door closed, he fled through the terrace.
In the second home, the alleged perpetrator accessed through the window of a room where a minor was sleeping. The young girl woke up and began shouting for her father, prompting the man to immediately leave the home through the same point he had entered.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have placed the arrested individual at the disposal of the judiciary as the alleged author of two attempted burglaries. The investigation remains open to determine if the arrested man could be implicated in other similar incidents in the area.
The incident has caused alarm among the residents of Montseny Street, who are calling for increased police presence in the neighbourhood to prevent such incidents. The L'Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council has reminded the importance of keeping windows closed at night and installing additional security systems.
