The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested an 18-year-old as the suspected perpetrator of the violent death of Dolors Agustí, a 75-year-old resident of Soses whose body was found on Saturday in a cornfield.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested an 18-year-old this morning for his alleged involvement in the violent death of Dolors Agustí, a 75-year-old resident of Soses (Segrià). The arrest occurred after neighbours located the woman's body on Saturday night in a cornfield, showing signs of violence and possible stab wounds.
A Disappearance That Ended in Tragedy
The victim had gone out for a walk with her dog on Saturday afternoon. When the animal returned alone to the village, family members and neighbours began searching for her. Around 10:45 PM, they found Dolors' lifeless body in a cornfield, between a bridge and the LP-7041 road, heading towards Aitona. The corpse showed wounds consistent with a knife, according to initial investigations.
The Mossos do not rule out that the body may have been moved to conceal it. The autopsy will determine the exact cause of death, although all signs point to violent homicide. The case has shocked the small municipality of Soses, with around 1,800 inhabitants, where Dolors was a well-known resident.
Arrest and Secrecy of Proceedings
The investigation, led by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos, has resulted in the arrest of the 18-year-old as part of the ongoing proceedings. The case is under secrecy, so neither the reasons for the arrest nor the relationship between the detainee and the victim have been disclosed. He is expected to be brought before a judge in the coming hours.
The mayor of Soses has expressed his dismay and extended condolences to the family. The Town Hall has declared an official day of mourning and suspended the planned events for this Monday. Neighbours have shown their support for the family with a silent gathering in front of the town hall.
A Community in Shock
The incident has caused great shock in the Segrià region. Dolors Agustí, a retiree and mother of two, was a beloved figure in the village. Her violent death has sparked outrage and sadness among residents, who are calling for a swift and exemplary investigation.
The Mossos have called on the public to provide any information that may help clarify the events. The investigation remains open and further arrests are not ruled out. The detained young man will be brought before the Lleida court in the coming hours.
