Carrer Molí de Can Sant Joan will remain closed to traffic for about 15 days to repair a sinkhole in the subsoil. The works to remove underground containers uncovered damage to the sewer system.

Carrer Molí, in the Can Sant Joan neighbourhood of Montcada i Reixac, will remain closed to traffic for around two weeks to repair the sinkhole that appeared in the subsoil on Monday, August 3. The fault was detected during the works to remove the underground rubbish containers.

Municipal technicians, in coordination with the company Agbar, have confirmed that the walls of the gallery through which the sewer runs are damaged, probably due to their age. The intervention is complex, as it requires reinforcing both the walls and the ceiling of the gallery.

This action also affects the improvement works on the sewer system of Carrer Elionor, which will be postponed because the Agbar team working there is the same one executing the works on Carrer Molí.

The closure of Carrer Molí affects the traffic flow in Can Sant Joan, as it is the only road that allows access to Carrer Viver. Temporarily, to access Viver, Carrer Font and Plaza Nicaragua have been opened in both directions of traffic.

The Montcada i Reixac City Council guarantees that urban wastewater is being correctly evacuated to the main collectors and the treatment plant, without affecting residents or the environment.
