Vehicle circulation was restored on Friday morning following the urbanisation works on the Beat Oriol stretch, in the Molí d'en Bisbe industrial estate.
Traffic between Narcís Monturiol street and the Ripollet road, via the new roundabout on Beat Oriol street, reopened around midday on Friday, August 7. The two accesses to the road had been closed due to the urbanisation works on the stretch between Bach and Narcís Monturiol, in the Molí d'en Bisbe industrial estate.
The new roundabout is part of the urbanisation project for Beat Oriol street, an initiative aimed at resolving ongoing issues such as double parking, motorcycles on sidewalks, and difficulties for businesses to access their premises.
The intervention plans to increase the current 122 parking spaces, many of which do not meet regulations, to 178 properly marked spaces, including two for people with reduced mobility. Additionally, 37 motorcycle spaces will be created and elevated pedestrian crossings will be installed to control speed.
The complete resurfacing of Beat Oriol and the roundabout at Bach street will improve the road surface and traffic safety. The project also includes a segregated bike lane, new trees, flower beds, and permeable surfaces that allow rainwater to filter into the ground, thus relieving the drainage system.
The project, budgeted at around one million euros, is funded through a three-way partnership between the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Montcada i Reixac City Council, and the compensation board of the industrial estate.
In September, the installation of landscaping elements is expected to begin, as planting is not feasible in the current heat. The reopening of the road provides relief for local residents and businesses, restoring normality to their usual commutes.
