The Vilafranca del Penedès Town Hall and the Penedès-Garraf Consortium have agreed to change the location of one of the mobile waste collection platforms in the pedestrian island of the centre. Starting Monday, August 10, the platform that was previously installed in Plaza Penedès will be moved to Calle de la Font, 33.
The decision is due to the low usage of the Plaza Penedès platform, partly because the containers from the Rambla de Nuestra Señora have not yet been removed. In contrast, the platform at Plaza Lluís Via has high demand and several residents have requested collection points closer to their homes.
The mobile platforms are the waste collection system used in the pedestrian island of the centre. Each one has containers for the five fractions: organic, packaging, paper and cardboard, residual, and glass. Additionally, they incorporate the new identification system via key fob or mobile app.
With this change, the five collection points in the centre are as follows: parking lot of the Torras i Bages library, Calle General Prim 6-8, Plaza Lluís Via, Plaza Josep Anselm Clavé, and, starting Monday, Calle de la Font, 33.
The platforms are set up every evening at 8:00 PM and removed the following day at 8:00 AM, so that the space remains free of containers for the rest of the day.
The Town Hall reminds that, since the launch of this service, door-to-door collection is no longer carried out in the pedestrian island. Waste must be deposited in the containers of the platforms during the established hours and must not be left in front of homes as was done before.
The council will continue to monitor the use of the platforms to adapt, if necessary, the location of the collection points and ensure a more convenient and accessible service for citizens.
