The final phase, which involved an investment of over €1.8 million, has added seven new vehicles that complete a process initiated a few years ago with an initial budget of nearly €14 million.
The new equipment that has just joined the municipal fleet includes four waste collectors, two container washers, and one auxiliary electric truck. With these additions, the fleet is now completely renewed, according to sources from the council.
The modernization process began in late 2025 with an investment that already represented a profound change in the daily equipment of the workers. That first phase included 123 machines, including electric sweepers, high-performance scrubbers for sidewalks, mini-sweepers, hydro-cleaning vehicles, tanks for street washing, and trucks for collection.
According to municipal sources, the complete renewal allows for a more efficient, sustainable service that meets the current needs of the city. The commitment to electric vehicles, such as the auxiliary truck, reinforces the commitment to reducing emissions.
At the same time, the municipal plenary is set to discuss an extension of the current contract for street cleaning and waste collection services for three more years. The proposed duration responds to the schedule established by an external consultancy responsible for the process.
This measure aims to ensure the continuity of the service while preparing the new contractual terms that will govern these essential services for the city in the future. In this way, Sabadell ensures that urban cleaning does not suffer interruptions during the transition to a new management model.
