Joel Benedicto, known for his appearance on 'La isla de las tentaciones', has revealed the real cost of opening his personal training centre in Sant Cugat del Vallès: 153,000 euros. Just in paperwork and initial procedures, he spent 11,000 euros.

Joel Benedicto, a former contestant on the reality show 'La isla de las tentaciones', has shared on his social media the breakdown of the investment needed to launch his personal training centre in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The total cost amounts to 153,000 euros, a figure that has surprised his followers and reflects the reality of starting a business in the fitness sector.

As he explains in a video, the initial expenses came even before starting the renovation of the premises. “The reservation of the premises, the cost of setting up the company, signing the contract, capital contribution, and trademark registration totalled 11,000 euros. So, right from the start, just in paperwork,” Benedicto details.

Next, the renovation of the space required an outlay of 25,000 euros. “To paint the entire premises, lay the parquet flooring, and erect the plasterboard partitions, I could have bought a car,” jokes the entrepreneur. The premises did not have changing rooms, so their construction, including three complete showers and all plumbing, cost an additional 27,000 euros.

Climate control, essential in a gym, added 13,000 euros to the bill. The largest expense, as expected, was for training equipment: 35,000 euros to equip the centre with the necessary materials. However, the expense that surprised him the most was for the electrical panel. “Four little buttons to light up the gym,” he ironically states, cost him 33,000 euros.

Finally, the reception furniture and other necessary elements for the operation of the centre added up to 9,000 euros. In total, the initial investment to open the doors of his business in Sant Cugat has been nearly 153,000 euros.

Benedicto, who balances his role as an influencer with that of a personal trainer, wanted to show the reality of entrepreneurship, beyond the numbers often circulated on social media. His testimony highlights the hidden costs that small business owners must face, especially in municipalities in the metropolitan area of Barcelona like Sant Cugat, where rental and renovation prices are high.

The centre, located in a commercial area of the town, offers personalised training and group sessions. Benedicto hopes that the investment will pay off in the medium term, although he acknowledges that the path has not been easy. “Starting a business is never easy, and in addition to the initial investment, one must face numerous bureaucratic procedures and fees,” he concludes.
