The Consell Comarcal has presented the map of the Gravel Route of Vallès Oriental, a 343-kilometre route divided into six stages that passes through municipalities such as La Garriga and Granollers.
The Consell Comarcal of Vallès Oriental has unveiled the cartographic map of the new Gravel Route, an itinerary of 343 kilometres designed for experienced cyclists looking to explore diverse and challenging landscapes. The official presentation took place this week and the route is already available on the region's tourism website.
The route, which runs through municipalities such as Granollers, La Garriga, Caldes de Montbui, and Santa Maria de Palautordera, is structured into six stages with an estimated average duration of three to four hours daily excluding breaks. The average accumulated elevation gain is 1,213 metres, with sections that feature steep gradients and some technical difficulty.
The course combines good weather throughout the year with easy access from Granollers, making it an attractive option for cycling tourism. The Consell Comarcal emphasises that this is a proposal aimed at individuals with a good fitness level.
The first stage connects Granollers with Santa Maria de Palautordera, covering 54 kilometres and 811 metres of positive elevation gain. The second is a circular stage of 50 kilometres starting from Santa Maria de Palautordera, while the third ascends to Montseny with 65 kilometres and 1,871 metres of positive elevation gain, the most demanding of the route.
The fourth stage descends from Montseny to La Garriga, covering 39.2 kilometres and 1,425 metres of positive elevation gain. The fifth connects La Garriga with Caldes de Montbui, spanning 65 kilometres, and the sixth and final stage completes the loop from Caldes de Montbui back to Granollers, covering 70.1 kilometres.
The cartographic map is now available on the Vallès Oriental tourism website, where the profiles of each stage and recommendations for cyclists are also detailed. The route enhances the region's active tourism offerings and aims to attract visitors year-round.
