The Town Hall of La Garriga will distribute a thousand approved glasses to observe the solar eclipse on August 12. They can be collected at various points in the municipality.

On August 12, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from La Garriga, and the Town Hall has organised a distribution of materials to observe it safely. In total, approximately a thousand approved glasses will be distributed.

The glasses, provided by the company Moloon, will be available at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC), at the Núria Albó Library, at the Visitor Centre, and in shops affiliated with the ASIC association. The distribution is free and will continue until stocks run out.

Although in La Garriga the eclipse will only be seen partially, the council reminds that looking directly at the sun can cause irreversible eye damage. Therefore, it recommends using only glasses with ISO-12312-2 certification and avoiding any other homemade alternatives.

If binoculars, telescopes, or cameras are used, it will be essential to have specific solar filters, as the glasses do not protect against these instruments.

The eclipse will begin at 19:34 and end at 20:55, with its peak expected at 20:28. The Town Hall advises arriving early at the observation points and following the instructions of municipal services.
