Berta Bosch is the author of the poster for the Festa Major of Cardedeu, which will take place from 12 to 16 August. The programme will be available on the website from 3 August.

The Festa Major of Cardedeu 2026 now has dates and a poster. Local illustrator and designer Berta Bosch has been tasked with creating the graphic image for the celebration, which this year will take place from 12 to 16 August. The presentation event for the programme was held yesterday, 30 July, revealing a poster that combines elements of popular culture with the most representative symbol of the municipality: the thistle.

Berta Bosch's poster is inspired by the traditional activities of the festival and the thistle, a plant that gives its name to the town and is a historical emblem. The illustrator has managed to merge both elements into a design that, according to municipal sources, aims to reflect the essence of Cardedeu and its major festival.

This year's programme will kick off on Wednesday 12 August with the opening speech, which will be given by the Colla Bastonera de Cardedeu. The group is celebrating its 20th anniversary, a special reason that makes it the star of the inaugural evening. Before the opening speech, there will be the Festa Major parade, which will conclude with the solemn dance of the Boar in front of the stage.

The central days of the festival, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 August, will feature enhanced morning sessions with workshops and family activities, designed for an audience of all ages. Saturday 15 August, the feast day of Santa Maria, will be the big day for popular culture, with the celebration of the Entremesos del 15 and the Petits Entremesos del 15, two proposals that year after year gather hundreds of participants and spectators.

Sunday 16 August will be an intense day, with a total of 24 activities scheduled throughout the day. Among the most notable events is the Ball d'en Calderer de Cardedeu, a spoken dance that premiered successfully last year and this year will feature Arnau Tordera, leader of the group Obeses, as the invited Honourable Calderer. This proposal combines theatre, music, and tradition in a show that has already become one of the highlights of the festival.

Classical music will also have its place, with a concert featuring the virtuoso pianist Yurii Kartuzov. The performance will take place in the courtyard of the Casa Viader, a modernist setting that will be enriched with various theatrical interventions, creating a unique evening for music and culture lovers.

The nights of the Festa Major will be marked by music, with a diverse programme embracing multiple styles. On the Garitu stage, Kelly Isaiah, Pepet i Marieta, Les Coco, Strombers, and, as a grand finale, La Ludwig Band will perform. Meanwhile, the Pompeu Fabra stage will host the orchestras Montgrins, Di-Versiones, and La Chatta, for those who prefer dance rhythms and covers of popular hits.

The complete daily programme will be available from Monday 3 August on the Festa Major website. From this same portal, a booklet with detailed information on each activity, schedules, and locations can also be downloaded. The Cardedeu City Council recommends that residents and visitors check the website to plan their attendance at events, as some have limited capacity.

The Festa Major of Cardedeu is one of the most anticipated events of the summer in the Vallès Oriental. With a programme that combines tradition, popular culture, and music for all tastes, the celebration promises to be, once again, a meeting point for the local community and visitors from all over the region. The dates, in the middle of August, favour the participation of families and young people who take advantage of the holidays to enjoy the festivities.

For those who want to know all the details of the programme, the official Festa Major website will be operational from 3 August. There, updated information, schedules, and any last-minute changes will be available. The City Council recommends following the official channels to not miss any updates.
