Alapont S.A. has donated a bass flute to the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Manresa. The mayor, Marc Aloy, and the company's manager, Mireia Tulleuda, signed the transfer agreement.
The Municipal Conservatory of Music in Manresa now has a new instrument in its catalogue. Alapont S.A., based in the Salelles industrial estate (Sant Salvador de Guardiola), has donated a Thomann BFL-500 bass flute to the City Council of Manresa, which will become part of the educational centre's instrumental collection.
The mayor of Manresa, Marc Aloy Guàrdia, and the manager of Alapont S.A., Mireia Tulleuda Alapont, representing the owning family, signed the transfer contract this Thursday in the Column Room of the council. Mar Alapont Sisquella, a family member, also attended the event.
During the signing, the mayor thanked the Alapont family for their gesture, which he highlighted would allow for the expansion of the conservatory's instrumental collection and benefit its students. “It is an act of generosity that strengthens the city's musical educational offering,” said Aloy.
The donation is part of the Alapont family's history of collaboration with the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Manresa. The businessman Salvador Alapont Masats (1927-2024), founder of the company, was a great music enthusiast and had already made donations of instruments during his lifetime to enable students to continue their studies.
In November 2019, coinciding with the feast of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, a plaque bearing his name was unveiled at the conservatory's facilities in recognition of his historical collaboration with the centre.
Furthermore, starting in 2026, Salvador Alapont will lend his name to the annual competition for young talents organised by the conservatory. These awards aim to promote motivation, hard work, and excellence among students, from the elementary level to the final year of the professional degree, for both individual performers and chamber groups.
The donated bass flute thus adds to the conservatory's collection of instruments, which can be used by students in their classes and performances. The centre, under the auspices of the City Council of Manresa, trains dozens of students each year in various instrumental specialities.
Alapont S.A., located in the Salelles industrial estate, is a company with a long history in the Bages region. The Alapont family has maintained a close bond with the city of Manresa, and this donation reinforces their commitment to local culture.
