The traditional celebration of the Mare de Déu del Vinyet will take place from July 31 to August 5 in Sitges, featuring religious events, an artisan fair, sardanas, and a fireworks display as the grand finale.
The town of Sitges is preparing to experience a new edition of the Festa del Vinyet, which this year will run from Friday, July 31 to Wednesday, August 5. The organisation is managed by the administration of the Ermita del Vinyet, in collaboration with the Department of Traditions and Festivals of the Sitges Town Hall. The programme combines traditional liturgical events, cultural activities, and an artisan fair that will be set up in the Parc del Vinyet.
The councillor for Traditions and Festivals, Eva Martín Martínez, highlighted that “the Vinyet is one of those small but significant local traditions that must be cared for and celebrated because it is a true sign of Sitges identity.” She also emphasised that the festival serves as a starting signal for the countdown to the Festa Major.
The central day of the commemoration will be Wednesday, August 5. The day will begin at 8:00 AM with the morning mass, presided over by Father Josep Maria Enríquez Farreras, a monk from Montserrat. At the end of the Eucharist, there will be veneration of the Holy Image and the singing of the Goigs. At 11:00 AM, a concelebrated mass will take place, featuring the participation of the Amics de l’Orgue choir and the offering from the representatives of the Pubillatge of Sitges.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, religious events will resume with the veneration of the Holy Image, the singing of the Goigs, and the recitation of the Rosary. The Cobla Sitgetana will offer a sardana performance at 7:00 PM. The celebration will culminate at 10:00 PM with the traditional fireworks display. The organisation recommends that individuals with acoustic sensitivity and pet owners take appropriate precautions.
Throughout the day, the Parc del Vinyet will host the artisan fair, organised by Uniart Fires, where stalls for the Festa Major, the sale of cocas, and bar service in the Pineda will also be available.
The festival programme is completed with a guided visit to the Santuari del Vinyet, which will take place on Friday, July 31 at 7:00 PM, organised by the Associació de Guies i Informadors de Sitges (AGIS). This activity is part of the Sitgestiu 2026 programme, organised by the Museus de Sitges. The price of the visit is 15 euros, and tickets can be purchased through the Museus de Sitges website.
On Sunday, August 2 at 5:45 PM, the traditional gathering of all individuals named Vinyet will be held, organised by the group “Em dic Vinyet, un nom de Sitges.” This event brings together locals and visitors who share this name closely linked to the town.
The Festa del Vinyet is one of the most deeply rooted events in the festive calendar of Sitges, attracting numerous faithful and curious visitors each year. The combination of religious events, popular culture, and leisure makes it a celebration that appeals to both residents and tourists.
