A fire of reeds and scrub in El Prat de Llobregat has forced the closure of the B-250 and one lane of the Ronda de Dalt, causing delays during the evening rush hour.
The fire originated near the B-250 road, which has had to be closed to traffic between the C-31 and B-20 motorways, near the Llobregat junction. Firefighters from the Bomberos de la Generalitat, the Barcelona Fire Brigade, and the Forest Defence Groups (ADF) have been working since early afternoon to control the flames.
A lane closed on the Ronda de Dalt causes slow traffic
The consequences of the fire have also affected mobility in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. The impact of the fire has forced the closure of one lane of the Ronda de Dalt towards Barcelona, in the section between Cornellà de Llobregat and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
This restriction has caused delays and slower traffic on one of the main access routes to the city. Drivers heading towards Barcelona have faced significant delays, especially during the evening rush hour.
According to the Catalan Traffic Service, the B-250 remains closed in both directions, and it is recommended to use alternative routes such as the C-32 motorway or the AP-2 highway to avoid the affected area.
Extensive deployment of emergency services
The fire alert was received at 14:29, and the emergency phone number 112 has registered 181 calls related to the incident. To tackle the fire, the Bomberos de la Generalitat have deployed ten ground units and three aerial resources, along with the intervention of other teams assisting in the firefighting efforts.
The flames are concentrated in an area of reeds and scrub next to the B-250, and emergency teams are working to prevent them from spreading to nearby areas. So far, no personal injuries or damage to homes have been reported, according to sources from the fire department.
The local police of El Prat have established diversions at access points to the area and recommend that residents avoid the fire zone and keep windows closed to prevent smoke inhalation.
Weather forecasts for the coming hours indicate light winds, which could aid firefighting efforts, although the dryness of the ground remains a risk factor. Firefighters are hopeful of being able to control the fire overnight.
