More than 500 people have participated in the new edition of the Saltimbanqui cycle, which brought circus shows to the streets and squares of El Prat de Llobregat between May and July.
The Saltimbanqui cycle has concluded its 2026 edition with a tally of over 500 participants in the various scheduled proposals between May and July. Organised by the Centre Cívic Sant Jordi - Ribera Baixa, the event brought circus shows, humour, and participatory activities to various outdoor spaces in the municipality, with a free offer open to all audiences.
The programme kicked off in May with 'Home', by the Cris Clown company, in the Joan Salvat Papasseit Gardens. Although the show had to be rescheduled due to weather conditions, it became a successful start thanks to a proposal that combined humour, sensitivity, and physical theatre.
In June, the Plaza de la Amistad hosted 'La paradeta', by Circ Vermut, a festive and participatory show that filled the space with juggling, balancing acts, and moments of complicity with the audience. The initiative once again demonstrated the circus's ability to energise public spaces and foster community.
One of the novelties of this edition was the inclusion of Parc de la Solidaritat as a stage for the cycle. There, in July, 'Sóc la teva FÍSICAH', by Oriol Borràs, was presented, a proposal that fuses circus and science, surprising the audience with a different perspective on everyday phenomena.
On July 17, one of the highlights took place: the 'Enribera't a la fresca' day, an afternoon dedicated to circus, coexistence, and outdoor culture. The activity began with the workshop 'Circ en família', led by El Negro and el Flaco, where children and adults could experiment with juggling and balancing in a playful environment.
The day continued with a picnic dinner on the Ribera terrace, bringing neighbours together to bid farewell to the season and share a pleasant time. The evening concluded with Las Couchers presenting 'Charlas de azucarillo', a fresh and fun show that wrapped up the event with laughter and participation.
The circus was also present at the traditional 'Tardes a la plaça' in Sant Cosme, with participatory proposals for children and families. 'Artistes sobre rodes', by Kanaya Circ, and 'Ska Circus!', by Circ de Jocs, turned the square into a space for play, movement, and shared discovery.
The high temperatures accompanied many of the activities, but did not prevent dozens of neighbours from attending the events. The civic centre expressed gratitude for the participation and trust of attendees, highlighting that the desire to share culture and community outweighed the heat.
The Saltimbanqui cycle thus reaffirms its commitment to a culture that is close, accessible, and rooted in the territory. A project that continues to make circus a tool for meeting, participation, and coexistence, capable of transforming squares and parks into shared spaces where artists, families, and neighbours interact, play, and build community together.
