The Local Government Board of Sitges, in an extraordinary session this Friday, has approved the extension of the construction deadline for the new Music School and direct funding for Retiro to renovate its heritage building.
The Local Government Board of Sitges held an extraordinary session this Friday to close several files before the August break. The next meeting of the municipal body will not be convened until September, so the agreements adopted today will be in effect throughout the summer.
Among the most relevant points is the extension of the execution period of the construction contract for the new Montserrat Almirall Municipal Music School, located in Parc del Rocar. The contracting file for the supply of school and office furniture has also been approved, which includes both the music school and the Sitges Adult Training Centre.
The direct funding to the Societat Recreativa El Retiro, aimed at renovating its heritage building, has been another highlighted agreement. With this aid, the municipal government reaffirms its commitment to local entities and supports the modernization plan for the Retiro facilities.
In housing matters, the Local Government Board has approved the deed of establishment of the provisional compensation board in the area defined by the streets of Felip Font i Falp, Lola Anglada, and Jacint Picas, as well as the free spaces of the plots on Camí de Capellans between numbers 53 and 57. This step brings closer the construction of the 482 Officially Protected Housing (HPO) planned in La Plana.
The Terramar neighbourhood also focused part of the session. The safety and health plan for the execution of road rehabilitation works has been approved, allowing entry into the second phase of the reform of several streets with deteriorated pavement.
The session served to dismiss a claim for patrimonial responsibility against the administration, as well as to approve the first extension of the lease contract for a commercial premises in the municipal area. The tender for the rental, installation, and dismantling service of an adapted bathing area on Barra beach has also been declared void.
In the grants chapter, the nominative aids to the Audiovisual Producers Association of Catalonia, the Sitges Hiking Centre for promoting climbing, and the two local basketball clubs, Club Esportiu Sitgetà de Basquetbol and Club Bàsquet Sitges, have been justified. The educational support grant to Escola Esteve Barrachina for the 2026 fiscal year has also been approved.
The Local Government Board has also greenlit the contracting file for the Municipal Sports School programme organised by the Sports Department, and the service for maintaining energy accounting and managing the Municipal Energy Community for the period 2026-2028.
With these agreements, Sitges faces August with its municipal management duties fulfilled. Residents interested in the progress of the Music School's construction or the evolution of the HPOs in La Plana will have to wait until September for new updates, when regular sessions resume.
