An Ecuadorian man has died this morning after being stabbed multiple times at the intersection of Bòbiles and Pedraforca streets in the La Florida neighbourhood of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested the alleged attacker hours after the incident.

A man has been murdered in broad daylight in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The crime took place during the early hours of Tuesday at the intersection of Bòbiles street and Pedraforca street, in the La Florida neighbourhood.

The victim, of Ecuadorian nationality, received multiple stab wounds to the chest. When emergency services from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) arrived at the scene, the man was in critical condition. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for several minutes, but he ultimately died.

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested the alleged perpetrator of the homicide hours after the events. Agents from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) have opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident. According to initial police reports, the attacker and the victim knew each other.

This new crime raises the number of homicides recorded in Catalonia to over 30 so far in 2026. In L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, this is the third murder committed this year, according to available data.

The scientific police have conducted an on-site inspection and are collecting evidence to determine the dynamics of the attack. The detained individual is expected to be brought before a judge in the coming hours.

Residents of the La Florida neighbourhood have expressed their shock at what happened. Some claim to have heard struggles and screams during the night, although they could not provide further details. The L'Hospitalet City Council has expressed its condolences to the victim's family and has offered to cooperate with the Mossos d'Esquadra in the investigation.
