A man has died after receiving two stab wounds to the chest on Monday night in the La Florida neighbourhood of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The suspected attacker fled but was arrested hours later.

Monday night turned bloody in the La Florida neighbourhood of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. A man of unspecified age died after being attacked with a knife in the street, between les Bòbiles and Pedraforca streets. The suspected attacker, a 35-year-old man, managed to escape on foot but was arrested hours later by the Mossos d'Esquadra.

The events occurred shortly after ten at night. According to initial reports, the victim received two stab wounds to the chest. Emergency Medical Services (SEM) personnel arrived at the scene and performed resuscitation maneuvers for several minutes, but they could not save his life and confirmed his death at the scene.

The suspected assailant fled on foot. The police activated a search operation and, according to sources from the investigation, managed to identify and arrest a 35-year-old man as the presumed perpetrator of the homicide. The same sources indicate that the victim and the assailant knew each other, although no further details about their relationship have been disclosed.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have taken over the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the crime. Although the motive has not been officially confirmed, various consulted sources suggest that tensions between groups involved in drug trafficking in the area have escalated in recent weeks. Some of these sources do not rule out that the murder may be related to disputes over control of drug sales points, a hypothesis that has not yet been confirmed by investigators.

The La Florida neighbourhood, one of the most populated in L'Hospitalet, has previously been the scene of violent episodes linked to crime and drug trafficking. Local residents have expressed their concern about the rise in insecurity in recent months. The L'Hospitalet City Council has expressed confidence in the work of the Mossos and has called for caution until the investigation progresses.

The arrested individual is in police custody awaiting judicial proceedings. The autopsy will determine the exact causes of death, although all indications suggest that the stab wounds were fatal.

The police continue to gather testimonies and review security cameras in the area to reconstruct the events. More details about what happened are expected to emerge in the coming hours.
