The restaurant at Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is preparing a new dish for the Spanish chef in its culinary show. The change aims to give more weight to national gastronomy against its rivals.
The Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower, located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, is finalising a renewal of its immersive gastronomic proposal, Le Petit Chef. The establishment, situated on the third floor of the iconic building designed by Richard Rogers, will replace the current Spanish salad with a recipe that, according to hotel sources, expresses "more clearly and forcefully the Spanish recipe book." The goal is for the tiny virtual chef to compete on equal terms with her counterparts from Italy, France, and Japan.
The Le Petit Chef experience, created by the Belgian studio Skullmapping and operated by 2Spicy Entertainment, combines a tasting menu with 3D projections on the table. Four thumb-sized chefs run, cook, and discuss while the waiters synchronise the service so that the real dish arrives just as the animated scene ends. The show, which lasts about two hours, includes a welcome cocktail and concludes with a public vote to choose the best chef.
Currently, the Spanish representative opens the evening with a salad that includes potato tuiles, arugula, manchego cream, and gazpacho, served with a tube of red fruit vinaigrette. The hotel considers this dish to be "correct but too conceptual" and is looking for a recipe that any diner would instantly identify as made in Spain. The change is expected this autumn and must fit perfectly with the movements and timings of the animation, which poses an additional technical challenge.
The complete menu, called the Grand Feast of the Chef, is priced at 149 euros per person. It starts with the Spanish recipe, continues with mushroom and fresh cheese ravioli from the Italian, bathed in boletus consommé and truffle béchamel, and follows with Wagyu beef tenderloin from the French, accompanied by Café de Paris sauce and Pont-Neuf potatoes. The Japanese dessert closes the evening with a dome of white chocolate and matcha tea filled with yuzu and wasabi pearls, topped with gold dust in the superior version.
The restaurant, operating under the name Terrum, offers three other options: Little Chef, Great Flavours (119 euros), the vegetarian Green and Gourmet option (99 euros), and a children's menu for 59 euros. All can be paired with Raimat wines or soft drinks. Prices are subject to change, so it is recommended to check the hotel's official website before booking.
Dinner takes place on the third floor of the Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower, next to Bellvitge Hospital, on Gran Via de L'Hospitalet. The show begins with a carrot cocktail and hummus, and it is recommended to arrive half an hour early to settle in and understand how the animated table works. The experience is designed for both hotel guests and families, as well as curious individuals from the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
The format, which is already a success in London, Dubai, and Singapore, demonstrates that technology does not replace cooking but envelops it in magic. With the new Spanish recipe, the tiny chef hopes to finally have a weapon on par with her culinary rivals.
